Students choosing Spanish courses at our school in Monteverde, Costa Rica, do so because they wish to combine a high quality Spanish language course with living next to a completely unspoilt tropical rain forest. The Spanish lessons take place mainly in the morning, leaving the afternoons and weekends free for activities, visits and excursions. Learning Spanish in a location like this is a unique experience never to be forgotten.
The Monteverde Mountain Rain Forest ("Cloud Forest") Reserve is one of the most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries in the tropics. The location is ideal for students who wish to combine the wonders of the rain forest with a first-rate Spanish course. In this unspoilt reserve there are over 100 species of mammals, more than 400 species of birds, 120 species of amphibians and reptiles, an estimated 2,500 plant species, with insect species numbering tens of thousands. At 5,600 feet, the climate is generally cooler than in the Central Valley and at times wet, with temperatures averaging 18-21 degrees Celsius.
Our school in Monteverde has 17 classrooms, video room, cafeteria, computer room and gardens. A wide range of visits and excursions are offered, from forest canopy "sky walks", white water rafting and Costa Rican cookery lessons to Arenal volcano trips. Spanish courses can be combined with Flamingo Beach and San Joaquín de Flores.
